6069 Aluminium Frame
Carbon Fibre forks
51` Frame ( Large )
Suit Size 5’9 / 6’0 – ( Eddy Merckx Size guide / chart )
#N.B. 1. Please note: Eddy Merckx bikes do NOT measure their bike frames conventionally. They use the seat tube measurement from centre to centre. Therefore the size of the frames comes across as being very small. Hence this model in a 45′ is more like a 50′ or 52′ when compared to other manufacturers such as Trek, Giant or Specialized.
#N.B. 2. Additionally please note: This model, the Montreal 74 is primarily built as a women’s specific bike. We have specifically built this bike with this in mind with parts to suit the female geometry.
EDDY MERCKX are a highly desirable brand made famous by the heritage associated with their owner. They have a reputation for making amazing framesets and over the years have become known to be the makers of extremely good race bikes.
The company is based in Belgium but are not widely available in the UK. They have sponsored a number of pro cyclists and have even had their own team.
This particular bike has been custom built from the frame by our in-house Cytech 3 mechanic with a very desirable spec that we chose ourselves.
These frames were designed for lightness and speed, instigated by Eddy Merckx himself, who desired the utmost from an all alloy frame. Using high-end aluminium 6069 triple butted tubing the company claim frame weight of 1000g (for the XS frame) and 30% stronger than conventional standard 6061 tubing. Ultra thin tubing and strong welds are the basis to such a fantastic frame that offer twisted seatstays that enhance rider comfort.
Using a selection of FSA parts we have built the bike using a range of Shimano parts to compliment the excellent frame. We have mixed & matched the gearing/brakes by using Shimano’s Tiagra gears mated to a 105 rear mech and OE chainset. The front mech is also Tiagra with the added benefit of powerful Shimano 105 brakes. We have also used Shimano’s excellent RS 30 wheels to ensure a stable and surefooted ride, along with new Nutrac tyres. A brand new Italia women’s specific saddle & new bar tape completes the build.
The parts for this bike have been individually sourced for their quality as well as their suitability for the build. Because of bikes pedigree we have spec’d the bike with a good level of finishing kit, whilst no overbuilding it. The result of which gives the bike has a great overall feel.
We are exceptionally pleased with the outcome. Having ridden the bike myself I can vouch for it’s instant speed and acceleration due in part to its light weight. You instantly know that you are riding something special when it manages to offer great comfort too. The bike feels fabulous and rides very light. The aluminium makes the bike feel spritely, surefooted and very nimble.
The bike is in exceptional condition as befits a bike of this quality.
