Scapin are an Italian brand that was founded in 1957.
They produced some of the very best road bikes during 2007 – 2018 before turning their expertise into mountain bikes and e/bikes.
They were often conceived as a poor man’s Colnago or Pinarello and grouped into the ‘also ran’ group of Italian bikes such as Wilier and De Rosa. However, most of their frames were handmade in Italy where they could concentrate on build quality where they pioneered the ‘wobbly’ fork design that was used in some of the older Pinarello’s. This feature has given the bike an unusual stance but overall increases the speed and agility of the bike.
The brand was not widely imported into the UK and as such not many bikes arrived into the country.
Our bike was bought as a frameset and we decided to build the bike with a better spec than the standard factory model. We have still adopted the same Shimano Ultegra groupset but have spec’d the rest of the bike with much higher end components. We have done this in part to make the bike lighter but also to improve the build over the shortfalls that the standard bike had.
Most of the parts for the build are new or lightly used.
The shifters and mech’s are brand new as are the bars, stem and bar tape.
The bike always received fantastic reviews with one reviewer saying that he preferred the bike to his much more expensive Colnago. Road Bike Review gave the bike 5 out of 5, with many reviewers stating that it handled and accelerated much better than its (more expensive) competition. When it was first released it was the direct competitor to the Specialized Tarmac, Giant Propel and Trek Emonda, but offered more charisma and style.
We have spec’d the bike with a wish-list of excellent components no more so than Dedacciai’s carbon wheels. The SL30 wheelset is both light and fast and suits the characteristics of the bike. Along with the superb Vittoria Corsa tyres it makes for a very fast bike.
We have matched the cockpit with Dedacciai’s carbon Superleggero bars and stem as well as Deda Elementi bar tape.
A Fizik Arione saddle completes the build.

This is a fabulous bike and one that we are very proud to have built.
It offers the new owner something completely different with the reliability of Shimano parts.
It also offers a touch of class with its high end Italian components that compliment the build.
The bike is very racy and offers tremendous performance.
So if you are looking for a classy, racy Italian bike then this is the bike for YOU.
#~# N.B. Because of the racier style of the bike the front end is very low. If you are looking for an endurance style bike then this IS NOT the bike for you. The frame size is listed on the bike as 51-56.5 so covers a big range (like the Medium size in the Giant range). The position is therefore quite stretched and as mentioned above quite low.
