BG Bikes are proud to offer this super English Genesis road bike that offers a huge choice of uses.
Genesis are a UK brand, that are well known for their multi-functional models such as the Equilibrium (winter bike) the Croix de Fer (gravel/adventure) model, and Datum model, that won many plaudits including Bike Of the Year. Our model, the Day One is an amalgamation of a number of these models that makes it an incredibly versatile bike. It has a comfy steel frame (that has allowance for big volume tyres) as well as Shimano’s superb internal hub Alfine gearing.
Genesis call this bike their “super commuter, meets touring, meets gravel”.
The bike could be used for a number of disciplines that include Gravel expeditions, winter bike or allround commuter. It’s Reynolds 725 steel frameset makes the ride very comfortable as does the massive 35′ tyres.
It’s greater tyres clearances means that you could also run the bike with larger volume tyres and still be able to run mudguards if you wanted to use the bike through the winter.
As with most of our range we always try and upgrade in a couple of ‘key’ areas and we have done this with the wheels, that now offers an excellent Shimano Alfine rear hub fitted to Alex rims. This hub is a far superior to the more modern Nexus hub that is used on the current model. ( This system of gearing is mounted within the hub so doesn’t have a derailleur – hence the gear changes are done via a lever on the bar end that changes the ratios within the hub : similar to the old Sturmey Archer system.)
So; the sum of the parts equates to great all rounder. If you’re after a great comfortable bike that can be used for a multitude of uses then this is the bike for you.

This is a super bike to ride. In it’s current guise it would make a formidable Gravel bike but also ideal as a superb winter or commuting bike.
***** PLEASE NOTE: This bike has been recently built by our professional CYTECH 3 qualified mechanic and as such it is ready to ride. Most of the parts on the bike are new or lightly used.
N.B. Please note that Genesis’ current model is NOT steel but aluminium and uses the Nexus hub and NOT the Alfine gearing that is on this bike. Our bikes’ specification is therefore far more superior to the current model.
