KYKLOS are quite a rare brand in the UK, made famous by their owner Danilo ‘The Killer’ Di Luca, who was a former Pro Peleton cyclist. They are an Italian company that produce very high quality carbon bikes with a range of only 3 bikes for which the Featherweight appears in the middle.
The ‘Featherweight’ is made from a monocoque / tube-t0-tube assembly of quality carbon thus ensuring the bikes very low weight. In tests it was extremely well received and was found to have a responsive ride, without having the ‘twitchiness’ of an out-an-out race bike. It was deemed to be a very good climbing bike as well as a superb descender.
The verdict from both Cycling Weekly and Bike Radar was that it was “an ace ride” that “wafts up the hills, canters on the flat and eats downhills for breakfast”.
In summary they both agreed that it was an amazing, flawless bike, with one tester wishing to put the bike on his Lottery winnings wish list!
Available as a frameset only you can choose how to build your bike, with many of the bikes featuring either Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra or Campagnolo Record builds.
Some of the test bikes that have been tried by Bike Radar and Cycling Weekly tended to spec their bikes with very high end components with the CW Test bike being offered with Shimano Dura-Ace di2 and a price tag of £6,200!
We have spec’d the bike with a great selection of components but haven’t ‘over-built’ it. Thus it is spec’d with a very good Shimano Ultegra groupset that we have matched to a superb carbon FSA SL-K chainsetset. We have then spec’d the bike with a fabulous pair of Deda Spectrum carbon handlebars to match the Deda Zero 1 stem and teamed these up with an Italian Prologo saddle.
In keeping with the bikes Italian pedigree we have also fitted the bike with a set of Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels and married them with a set of Vittoria Slick tyres.
The whole bike is then completed with high-end Fizik pro bar tape.
The ride quality of this bike is second to none and could only be replicated by a very high-end similar product such as De Rosa or Colnago or one of our personal favourites, Glider.
Having ridden the bike myself it offers both speed and comfort. You instantly know that you are riding something that is extra special.
With such a unique bike comes an equally unique price and these frames ordinarily sell for between £2500 – £3200. It is difficult to value this model as we have custom built it using a variety of parts from Shimano, that include a full Ultegra groupset as well as fabulous strong and lightweight Fulcrum wheels.
The bike simply looks stunning in it’s black, white and red colour scheme. We have matched all the parts on the bike to colour co-ordinate the complete spec. We have purposefully not over spec’d the bike, thus allowing it’s new owner to upgrade it to their own individual liking.
As with all of our bikes some of the parts we have used on the bike are new and some are secondhand. As with our high-end refurbishments we spec the bike accordingly and always use new bar tape, saddles and tyres. In this instance we have used many used parts to compliment the quality and condition of the wonderful frame.
You will be amazed at the overall condition of the bike.
