BG Bikes are proud to offer this super English Genesis road bike that offers a huge choice of uses.

Genesis are a UK brand, that are well known for their multi-functional Croix de Fer model. This model became extremely popular as their ‘Go To’ bike as it offered everything that you wanted in a road bike. It’s steel frame offered comfort and yet it was light enough to race! It’s greater tyres clearances meant that you could also run the bike with bigger tyres and at the same time still be able to take mudguards and use it as a winter bike. Moreover, many riders used them as touring bikes in the same vein as Dawes’ famous Galaxy.

In addition to the Croix de Fer, Genesis introduced the Equilibrium. This model complimented the range but also offered a different type of ride.

Primarily made in a range of steel, the Equilibrium bridged the gap between cyclocross, touring and racing and was a great alternative to the Croix de Fer.

The model that we have for sale is one of the more unusual models as it is made with Reynolds (very reliable) and comfortable 725 tubing but is complimented with a Campagnolo groupset, from Italy.

The ‘Veloce’ Campag running gear sits at a similar level to Shimano’s 105, so is ultra reliable as well as being quirky! The brakes are from Miche, which is the only non-Campag part. The finishing kit is all made in-house by Genesis including the comfy padded saddle.

As with most of our range we always try and upgrade in a couple of ‘key’ areas and we have done this with the wheels, that now offer the bike a far more superior ride. We have used a pair of very strong Mavic 719 wheels that have been mated to a Shimano Deore front hub and a Campag rear. These wheels are often used on touring bikes and offer incredible strength. They are usually only available as a ‘rim only’ option, so therefore both of the wheels are handbuilt. The rear wheel is actually brand new as are the Schwalbe Durano tyres.

The bike comes fitted with very good quality and industry standard SKS mudguards.

This bike is one of the best steel bikes on the market and features in Road C.C Top 6 Steel Bikes. It now has as much, if not better, pedigree than it’s stablemate the Croix de Fer.

So; the sum of the parts equates to great all rounder. If you’re after a great comfortable bike that can be used for a multitude of uses then this is the bike for you.

The spec is as follows;

Reynolds 725 Steel Frame
Carbon Fibre forks

Campagnolo Veloce double chainset ( 50 – 34 )
Campagnolo Veloce 20 speed STI gearing
Campagnolo Veloce front mech
Campagnolo Veloce rear mech

* Upgraded / Handbuilt Mavic A 719 wheels   – Shimano Deore / Campag hubs
Genesis stem
Genesis seat post / handlebars

The overall condition of the bike is fair – good. The bike does have some scratches and marks on the frame as expected with a used bike. Any shortcomings that the bike may have is far outweighed by the upgraded spec and refurbishment.

This is a super bike to ride. In it’s current guise it would make a formidable training bike, but also ideal as a superb touring bike.

This bike would quite expensive to buy brand new so we feel we offer this bike at a very good price. Over a 50% saving over the new cost of this bike!
