BG Bikes are proud to offer this super English Genesis road bike that offers a huge choice of uses.
Genesis are a UK brand, that are well known for their multi-functional Croix de Fer model. This model became extremely popular as their ‘Go To’ bike as it offered everything that you wanted in a road bike. It’s steel frame offers comfort and has mounts on the frame for mudguards and /or a rack. It is often used as a great touring bike but is best known for it’s ability as an ‘adventure bike’. It’s greater tyres clearances means that you could also run the bike with bigger tyres and we have done this with this bike by fitting large volume 40` tyres. Moreover, many riders use them as touring bikes in the same vein as Dawes’ famous Galaxy.
Now that the bike is fitted with knobbly tyres it would also be at home on many off-road trails and can / could be used as a Gravel bike.
The model that we have for sale is one of the better models in the range and is made from Reynolds (very reliable) and comfortable 725 steel tubing. The groupset is Shimano 105, that comes with hydraulic brakes.
What makes this bike so much better than the standard version are the upgraded wheels and tyres. The wheels are from Swiss brand, DT Swiss that are a much improved upgrade over the standard Alex wheels that this model would have been fitted with. To compliment the brand new wheels are Madison’s in-house Nutrac 40` wide CX tyres.
With ultra reliable gearing, superb steel frame and upgraded wheels the bike is finished off with in-house by Genesis components including the comfy padded saddle.
As with most of our range we always try and upgrade in a couple of ‘key’ areas and we have done this with the wheels, that now offer the bike a far more superior ride. We have used a pair of very strong DT Swiss wheels that retail for almost £300. They are a very popular brand and are a very worthy upgrade to compliment the bike.
So; the sum of the parts equates to great all rounder. If you’re after a great comfortable bike that can be used for a multitude of uses then this is the bike for you.

The overall condition of the bike is good. The bike does have some scratches and marks on the frame as expected with a used bike. Any shortcomings that the bike may have is far outweighed by the upgraded wheels and refurbishment.
This is a super bike to ride. In it’s current guise it would make a formidable Gravel bike but also ideal as a superb touring bike and, moreover Adventure bike.
This bike would quite expensive to buy brand new so we feel we offer this bike at a very good price. Over a 50% saving over the new cost of this bike!
