EDDY MERCKX ‘San Remo 76′ Men’s Carbon Road Bike

Aero Carbon Fibre Frame
Carbon Fibre forks
53′ Frame  ( Medium )

Suit Size 5’8 / 5`10  – ( Eddy Merckx Size guide / chart )

#N.B. 1.  Please note:  Eddy Merckx bikes do NOT measure their bike frames conventionally. They use the seat tube measurement from centre to centre. Therefore the size of the frames comes across as being very small. Hence this model in a 53′ is more like a 55’ when compared to other manufacturers such as Trek, Giant or Specialized.

#N.B. 2. Additionally please note: This model, the San Remo 76 was built in many different spec’s with this particular bike fitted with a Campagnolo / FSA groupset and Ritchey finishing kit. Other spec’s included Shimano 105 / Ultegra builds with different wheels and components.

EDDY MERCKX are a highly desirable brand made famous by the heritage associated with their owner. They have a reputation for making amazing framesets and over the years have become known to be the makers of extremely good race bikes.

The company is based in Belgium but are not widely available in the UK. They have sponsored a number of pro cyclists and even had their own race team.

This frame was designed with speed and sprints in mind, instigated by Eddy Merckx himself, who desired the utmost from all of his aero frames. This model is named after his victory in the Milan – San Remo classic race that he won 7 times – with his final winning race in 1976, hence the name of the bike.

The bike is fairly light weight and the chunky tubes marry very well to the bikes sprinting prowess and flat land speed ability.

Using a Campagnolo Veloce / FSA Gossamer groupset the bike is complimented with a Ritchey Comp bar/ stem combination, as well as an in-house aero carbon seatpost.  To compliment the ride the bike comes fitted with a set of Fulcrum wheels and an almost new set of Hutchinson tyres. Brand new Easton bar tape and a new (factory) Prologo saddle completes the build.

The bike is in very good condition as befits a bike of this quality.

The spec is as follows:

Carbon Frame
Carbon Fibre Forks

Campagnolo Veloce 20 speed STI shifters
Campagnolo Veloce Front Mech
Campagnolo Veloce Rear Mech

FSA Gossamer (OE) double compact chainset

FSA Gossamer (OE) Brake calipers

Fulcrum Racing Corsa Factory Wheels

Brand new /  Prologo Kappa RS saddle
Ritchey Logic Comp handlebars / matching Comp stem

Merckx Carbon Aero seatpost

Almost new / Hutchinson Nitro 2  25′ tyres

Brand new / Easton Pro gel bar tape

The bike is in very good condition as are the wheels with some of the components in exceptional ‘as new’ condition. The saddle and bar tape are brand new. Apart from a few blemishes here and there you would find it difficult to fault the overall quality of the bike.

Overall this is an amazing bike, with incredible pedigree that offers fabulous value for money.

The bike is ready to ride.
