Terry Dolan are a UK brand that are well respected for their quality and pedigree and in recent years have been known for their excellent track bikes.

Based in Lancashire they offer a range of bikes for all types of disciplines, with their ‘Ares’ model offering a sporty, racy, Sportive option within their range.

This particular model is the top-of-the-range SL (Super Lightweight) model and is made from Toray carbon and as such is aimed at racing and fast sportive riding. The bike has a semi-aero frame with internal cable routing with flared chainstays.

Available either as a complete bike or as a frame only option we have custom built this bike using the best components to compliment the bike. We have fitted the bike with a full Shimano Ultegra 11 speed groupset with an in-house Dolan carbon seatpost. Superb carbon / alloy Italian ITM finishing kit are used for the bars and stem.

To make the bike climb and sprint with extra verve we have fitted a pair of high-end Mavic Ksyrium Pro wheels that are fitted with brand new Vittoria Rubino Pro tyres. Brand new ITM Pro bar tape and a new Selle Italia saddle complete the build.

Having ridden the bike myself it offers both speed and comfort. You instantly know that you are riding something that is extra special.

With such a unique bike comes an equally unique price and these frames sold for £950. It is difficult to value this model as we have custom built it using a variety of parts. The standard bike build was appx £2500.

The bike simply looks stunning in it’s green, white and black colour scheme. We have matched all the parts on the bike to co-ordinate the complete spec. We have purposefully not over spec’d the bike, thus allowing it’s new owner to upgrade it to their own individual liking.

As with all of our bikes some of the parts we have used on the bike are new and some are secondhand. As with our high-end refurbishments we spec the bike accordingly and always fit the bike with new bar tape, saddle and tyres.

If you were to buy a similarly spec’d bike new you would require at least double the money that we are selling our bike for. This type of wheelset would only appear on a very high end end bike in excess of £5,000. The components that we have used for the build emulate the overall quality of the bike and how we, as cyclists, would expect from such as build.
